The problem
The FDA's Food Traceability Rule (FSMA 204) requires all entities in the food supply chain to maintain detailed traceability records. The FDA can demand these records within 24 hours. For small operations of 1–20 people, this means lot codes scattered across spreadsheets, manual data entry between growers and packers, and days of work to compile what the FDA needs in hours.
